Intolerable vs Intolerant

Image
Millions of Americans are INTOLERANT of the views of others. Let me give you an example - Democrats vs. Republicans. How many of you cringed when reading Democrats vs Republicans?   I too cringe when I'm drawn into an us vs them narrative. Which is EXACTLY the narrative that is being spread day in and day out across various social media platforms and news media outlets. Are you aware that it is possible to be a Democrat and NOT support abortion rights? Are you aware that it is possible to be a Republican and support abortion rights?   Isn't it about time that we all take the time to widen the lens through which we view our country, our state, or our local communities? Time to see beyond what makes us mad?  Some people can be intolerable however, through grace we don't have to be intolerant.  #DaveforGreenfield

Getting to Know Me - Family

Image
Like several mayors before me I was not born here in Hancock County nor did I grow up in Greenfield. However, back in my era, the Baby Boomers era, our beliefs, life styles, and work ethics were those that were shared by millions of Hoosiers.  I was born in Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana in 1964. My mother followed the path of most mothers back then, she did not work until all of us were in fulltime school. Dad often held 2 jobs and at one point had 3 jobs. Mom was the disciplinarian and ran a tight household.  ...

Carver for Mayor Campaign Announcement

Image
I am announcing my intent to run for the Mayor of the City of Greenfield. I have formed an exploratory committee, filed the necessary paperwork, and have begun campaigning efforts. The mayor’s office is the top office in the city and through its devotion to servant leadership can come a more vital life for our citizens. I believe like the famous poet James Whitcomb Riley once said “The most essential factor is persistence – the determination to never allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that inevitably must come.”  Each of us face discouragement and I too expect to be discouraged from running for this position. However, I believe in the way of life that has been long established here in Greenfield and I am focused on “our way of life.” Over the next 44 weeks each of you will get to know about me, understand my beliefs and thought processes, and have everything that you need in order to cast your vote for me to be the next mayor of Greenfield....
