Unique Individuals – United for Our Community

Unique Individuals – United for Our Community

(Inspired by Dr Charles Stanley)

Can you imagine a community where all the people were alike?

Our choices in literature, music, art, clothing, entertainment, and foods.. Our thoughts, our opinions, our conversations would all be the same because our uniqueness would be gone!

In many instances, we have given up on what makes each of us unique individuals while chasing the “American Dream.”

Over the years, our career politicians have instilled in us the illusion that we can control our destiny through the pursuit of economic opportunity while giving them control of our thoughts, opinions, and choices regarding what is best for our communities.

Have you noticed how many career/lifetime politicians, affecting the lives of all of us, are not operating under the idea of democratic consent? Each making decisions on the basis of their own advantage and not for the public good?

We must live in a city where we can practice democracy together. We, as unique individuals, must come together to encourage and build the community that benefits everyone and not just those in seats of power.

I believe, as a representative of the people, that we should come to look beyond ourselves and come to view ourselves as members of our community concerned not only about ourselves but about our fellow citizens.

(Yes, even a candidate for mayor can enjoy a great quote! BTW that quote has resonated within me since I graduated high school)

The result of choosing a candidate like me to be your next mayor?

"An informed and morally sensitive community that has an active role in discussing and debating issues ranging from drug addiction to public safety, from homelessness to 10 year planning all within a framework informed by a shared vision of a great community; and a citizenry capable of working together for the common benefit of all."
